It is the time when car manufacturers, engineers and car enthusiasts convene to celebrate the latest models; cars that have not been released to the market yet, case concept cars and classics. Car conventions in Europe
1. The British international motor show in London, UK
This show debuted at the crystal place in the UK in1903. The first event was organized by the society of motor manufacturers and traders or the SMMT. Since then, the show has been held every two years. The show is normally held between the end of July and the beginning of August. The 2010 show was however cancelled because of the economic crisis. The cars that are showcased in this show include models by Alfa Romeo, Lexus, Suzuki, ford and several others. The London event normally attracts the major manufacturers and celebrities from the UK. Major musical bands like UB40, Roxy music and also Simply Minds also get to perform at the event.
2. The Frankfurt motor show in Frankfurt Germany
This international automobile exhibition is held annually since it was launched in 1897. However, since 1991, the show has been split into two separate events.
• The Hanover commercial automobiles show is held after every two years. It features all types of vehicles used for commercial purposes.
• Frankfurt motor show is also held every two years and it features all types of passenger vehicles.
The two shows feature models like Fiat, Toyota, Maserati, Lamborghini, and all other major manufacturers. The shows concentrate on showing off pre-launch cars, bringing to life amazing concept cars. They also capitalize on hybrid cars and the green concept cars. This year’s event will of course be the Frankfurt motor show for passenger vehicles.
The major American motor shows
1. The Detroit auto show
This is the largest American auto show. It is mostly held in late January every year. It features models from the major manufacturers from around the world. These include Toyota, Fiat, Lamborghini, and others. Tickets are usually not more than $15 per person and models, actresses and other celebrities are also a part of the event.
2. The charlotte auto fair
This is normally held in early spring every year. It is normally held at the Lowe’s Speed motorway. People that visit the event are allowed to move around inside and have a closer look at the models that interest them. Again, great models such as Suzuki, Ford and Toyota are features in this show. The next event is expected to take place in April this year. The show is an opportunity for car makers to show off their models and also for buyers to get parts that they may be interested in from vendors that set up camp just outside the arena.
